Meet The Team!

Jessica Brown, M.S., CCC-SLP, Speech Therapist at The Power of Speech in Marblehead, MA

Jessica Brown, M.S., CCC-SLP

Owner, Speech-Language Pathologist

Jessica founded The Power of Speech in 2016 to provide holistic pediatric therapy to children in the North Shore area of Massachusetts. In 2024, The Power of Speech moved to a new office in Marblehead and her team started to expand to include occupational therapy and IEP consulting. She is excited to now be working alongside other passionate professionals, dedicated to supporting children across many areas of their life.

 

Jessica grew up in Marblehead and received her master's degree from Northeastern University. She loves being outside with her husband, two kids, and two dogs!

Cassidy deBettencourt, MOT, OTR/L

Occupational Therapist

Cassidy has a sports medicine bachelors degree and occupational therapy masters degree. She has worked with multiple populations, but has found her passion working with children. Cassidy enjoys helping children with motor development, sensory processing, and emotional regulation. Supporting babies with torticollis is her specialty! 

​

Cassidy grew up in Swampscott and currently lives there with her family. When she isn't working, she can be found going on adventures with her family and cooking up new recipes!

Amy Atwood

IEP Consultant and Office Manager

Amy has worked in Special Education for 29 years, taking on many different roles. Her past experiences include teaching in a substantially separate classroom and later teaching in an inclusion classroom. Amy is currently the IEP Team Chairperson at a local public school district. She is passionate about the work she does, and loves sharing her knowledge with more families through consultations at The Power of Speech.

 

Amy lives in Marblehead with her husband and two children. In her free time, she loves to walk down by the beach, garden, and cook!

Joann Sorg, MS, OTR/L

Occupational Therapist

Joann brings 20 years of coast to coast pediatric OT experience to The Power of Speech, where she provides parent and teacher consultations in-home and at local schools. She especially loves supporting social, emotional and behavioral needs, sensory regulation and motor development so kids can play, learn, explore and grow into their authentic selves.

Joann is a New England native and graduate of Boston University. She and her husband moved to Marblehead from San Diego in 2022 with their 3 boys and 1 dog. She meets all of her sensory regulation needs doing flying trapeze and will love to tell you about it!

Get Started in Three Easy Steps!

The Power of Speech provides speech therapy and occupational therapy to children throughout the North Shore area of Massachusetts. Here's how you can get started today:

1

Contact The Power of Speech to discuss your child's areas of need and steps for getting started.

Schedule your child's initial evaluation! We will provide you with a written report within two weeks.

3

Start weekly speech and/or occupational therapy sessions! Together, we will help your child reach their goals.

Private Pay, HSA/FSA, and Insurance

The Power of Speech accepts private pay using debit/credit cards (including HSA and FSA cards).

For speech therapy, we are "in network" with Blue Cross Blue Shield.

We are "out of network" for all other insurances.

The Power of Speech is private pay only for occupational therapy.

Some insurance plans provide "out of network" reimbursement for speech therapy and occupational therapy. Please contact your insurance to learn more about your plan coverage.
